About Homeschool Montgomery!

Congratulations in your quest for homeschool-related information. We hope you'll find Homeschool Montgomery! an inviting place to find answers to your questions about homeschooling in Montgomery County and Maryland.

Designed for Montgomery County homeschoolers, the purpose of Homeschool Montgomery! is to forge connections in our homeschool community. This site brings together resources available through umbrella groups, cooperatives, Montgomery County Public Schools, hybrid organizations, businesses, and others who appreciate the virtues of homeschooling. The site is privately owned and is not affiliated with Montgomery County Public Schools or any particular umbrella group.

The idea for this site goes back a few years. Home-based educator and small business owner Krista Thomas created an all-encompassing homeschool portal in Frederick County early 2006. The venture, called Homeschool Frederick!, took off - thanks, in part, to friends and homeschool colleagues who encouraged and supported the idea.

In September 2009, Krista turned over the reigns to a new editor and publisher, Beth Redmond. Beth is a homeschooling mother of four, web copywriter, editor, and newly minted site designer---and thrilled at the prospect of continuing this mission in other counties in Maryland.

In 2010, Beth created Homeschool Maryland! LLC which now operates Homeschool Montgomery! and Homeschool Howard County! as well as the original sister site, Homeschool Frederick!

Reader input is invaluable for newcomers and veterans of home-based education. Please support this online venture with your comments, reader submitted articles, and by supporting our advertisers. Let's make this site a long-lasting staple for homeschoolers in our area!
